Ember Days and a Chance for an Additional Giveaway Chance!

Good Morning! Do you know that tomorrow begins Ember Days for the last half of 2011? What are Ember Days? Well, folklore has it that the weather on each of three specific days in September will foretell the weather for next three successive months; that is, Wednesday forecasts weather for October, Friday for November, and Saturday for December. So if you'd like an additional chance in my September Giveaway for the "Scaredy Cats Welcome" pillow, reply to this post and tell me: 1. What state you live in; 2. What your weather was like on 9/21; 3. What your weather was like on 9/23; and What your weather was like on 9/24!

I also wanted to share with you a little item I finished on Sunday evening. It's Pattern #13 Halloween from Christian Patterns.  Instead of framing it, I made it into a little quilt. It hangs above my fire place mantel. I also stitched up the little crow pillow and the "frost is on the pumpkins" banner a few years ago.
Christian Patterns has many a cute stitchery patterns for sale.  Here is one with a little kitty on it. I have this pattern and will be stitching it up (someday!). Well, I'll sign off for now with a wish you have a sweet fall day!

  1. I live in New England, I never trust the weather, lol.
I just saw the cats and free and realized why I didn't see it the first time, so got it this time. Thinking of making some bowl fillers today.

  2. I have never heard of Ember Days, very interesting....I will have to write it all down and check it out. TFS

  3. Love your new stitchery....Your mantle looks great! Wow...never heard of Ember days before....Fascinating! Will have to pay attention this year and see if there's any truth to it!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  4. I love the little quilted stitchery. What a neat idea :) I can't wait to see what the weather is going to be like for the next few days - I'm going to write the results on the months ahead & see if the predictions hold true - I love these folklore hints :)

    2) Rainy, cloudy windy and chilly
    3) Sunny and beautiful blue skys.
    4) Absolutely dreadful. Raining. Cloudy and in the 50's.

Well... Maybe Novemebr will atleast be bearable. O.O I hope.

  6. Ember Days report:
    1) Georgia
    2) Humid & drizzle
    3) Humid & drizzle
    4) Humid & partly cloudy
It would be great if our weather the next few months would include more rain! The humidity & just drizzle I could do without!

  7. Ember Reports from Nod (....Wisconsin)

Sorry - I put 9/21's report on your 9/21 post....

But, as for 9/23 - we had a high of 51 with cold winds and rain....Below normal temps - so November isn't sounding any better than October...

9/24 - pretty much more of the same - high of 53, cloudy with a chance of rain lows in the mid to upper 30's....Normal high is 62. So December isn't looking any better.

(Why do I live here again???)

    Hope you're having a blessing-filled weekend! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  8. Here's our weather in Central NY for the last few days
    9/21 Sunny and 75

9/23 partly to mostly sunny...highs were in the mid 70s and it rained in the late afternoon evening...made for an interesting night at the high school football game
9/24 - today was a lovely Fall day - mostly sunny with highs near 70...gorgeous!
Thanks for the extra chance! Hope you are having a great weekend!
    Warm blessings
